Project KAVACAM
Namaste dear friends
As many of you have heard from the news, India is going through a terrible time with the pandemic and we are all trying to do our best, not only to stay safe ourselves but also to keep others safe.
However, resources are a challenge and most hospitals and healthcare workers are not even able to access a continuous supply of protective medical equipment like facemasks, hand sanitisers and gloves. This means that the health care workers such as doctors, nurses, and volunteers are at risk, whilst dedicating themselves to care for the COVID-affected patients. We also want to arrange for a few Oxygen Concentrators, so that patients without sufficient oxygen can receive help that can be life saving.
Their protection is not only essential to their own survival but also so that they may continue to care for those who are severely sick.
While we are aware that big funds are being organized by the government and other NGOs, we feel that much of that money collected will be spent on administrative costs, and only a part of it will reach the end-user.
We have therefore identified one of the government-run hospitals specialising in COVID treatment, which is receiving more patients than it can handle, and which is desperately in need of funds and medical supplies to sustain its work. Being a government-run hospital, it is where the poorest sections of our society seek treatment. The hospital's name is Omandurar Government Hospital and it is located at Wallahjah Road, Anna Salai, Tamil Nadu 600002, India.
The head doctor Dr Ramesh, hasn’t been home in five months. Read about him here - http://toi.in/Q-9Oqb/a31gj
We have created this campaign called Project KAVACAM, to raise money from many of you who have been reaching out to offer your support. The word KAVACAM means protection and we would like to use all of the money raised to buy the protective equipment that is desperately needed by the hospital staff.
We want to spend 100% of the money collected on facemasks, hand sanitisers and gloves, which are needed on a continuous basis. All are disposable after a certain period of use, and new ones are needed continuously to protect themselves while working with the sick.
Our goal is to raise at least €5000 (~Singapore$ 8000), and if possible more. We also hope to do it as soon as possible. Our campaign will run this week and once collected we will, in turn, buy the equipment and supply it to the hospital directly. We hope to deliver the equipment by Sunday the 16th of May 2021.
After we have supplied them with the equipment we will share with you photos - proof that the supplies have been delivered to the hospital.
So please help us by Friday (14 May 2021) at the very latest, if not before, and send money through Paypal to our account.
Please choose the currency of donation as Singapore$, as our bank account is in that currency and we don't want to lose any money in exchange rate conversions, which we would rather be able to direct to buy more equipment.
Please ensure that when you transfer the funds, you mention the purpose as - "Project Kavacam 2021". All contributions will be acknowledged with an official receipt!
We sincerely thank you for your support and hope that all these small droplets will help India overcome this horrible pandemic!
Namaste and donate generously from your heart!
