I.16 - tatparaṁ puruṣakhyāteḥ-guṇa-vaitṛṣṇyam
Further,
When an individual has achieved complete realization of his true self, he will no longer be disturbed by the influence of the [three] humours.
Detachment develops with self-realization. The inevitable desires for diversion cannot be suppressed, for if they are, they will surely surface again later. When there is self-realization, our life purpose becomes clear and it is easier to focus on that, and hence will have the strength to overcome the distractions, be it conscious or unconscious.
