Garuḍa-gāyatrī-mantra

Śrī Garuḍa is the giant eagle, the vehicle of Lord Viṣṇu, who represents spiritual knowledge, which is the means for liberation. In this Gāyatrī-mantra for Garuḍa, he is meditated upon as one with golden wings. The Golden wings represent the illuminating spiritual knowledge (rather than just mere information), which comes through spiritual study, self-inquiry, practice and detachment, all of which are built on the platform for the yama-s and niyama-s, a morally healthy life code.

Through this Garuḍa-gāyatrī-mantra, we honour Śrī Garuḍa and meditate on him, so that we can get the wings of gold (illumination) that help us move freely into the spiritual domain.

If possible, listen to or chant this mantra 6 times each time, three times a day.
